The one statistic[RSK.02]

US small businesses hit by cyber attacks lost a median of $8,300 in 2023.

That is the only statistic on this page. Lexi tells owners the same thing about cyber: it’s not an if, it’s a when. The useful question is what an interruption would cost your business, and which fixes are worth funding first.

A risk assessment answers that question with your numbers instead of headlines. Every risk in your business gets rated by you for impact and likelihood, multiplied, and ranked. The mitigation budget then follows the list, top down.

The method[RSK.03]

Impact times likelihood, rated by you

The whole method fits on one card. You put two numbers on every risk, because you know your business better than anyone brought in from outside, and the math sets the order.

01

Map how the business runs today

Systems, subscriptions, vendors, data, and who can touch what. The map comes first so nothing gets rated in the abstract.

02

Name what could go wrong, in plain English

Cyber exposure, single points of failure, compliance gaps, tools you pay for but never locked down. Every term translated as it comes up.

03

You rate each risk twice, one to five

How bad it would be, and how likely it is. The ratings are yours, so the ranking is too.

04

Multiply, sort, read the list together

Impact times likelihood puts the register in order. The top of the list is where mitigation money goes first.

05

Leave with the register, the plan, and the priorities

Three documents, ready to fund and to hand to whoever does the work.

Risk lives in ordinary places

Most exposure sits in ordinary places: a paper file with one copy, a password kept in a drawer, a process one person carries in their head. Lexi walks those places with you first and rates each one.

What you walk away with[RSK.04]

What does a finished assessment hand you?

All three in plain English, ready to fund, schedule, or hand to your IT provider.

01

Ranked risk register

A list of what could go wrong, ranked by you: every risk with its impact and likelihood ratings, multiplied and sorted from most expensive to least.

02

Mitigation plan

What to fix, in what order, and why each mitigation matters, with the cost of putting it in place beside the cost of leaving it alone.

03

Funding priorities

Where the first dollars go and what can wait. Sized to your budget, sequenced by the register, revisited when the KPIs come back.

Phased mitigation[RSK.05]

Fixed in the order it protects you

We gotta walk before we can run. The plan is sequenced so the work gets done, the spend stays inside your budget, and nothing gets bought before the business is ready for it.

01

First: the top of the register

The highest-scoring risks get mitigated first. The early fixes are often unglamorous: access, backups, and locking down tools you already pay for.

02

Next: scheduled into the quarter

Mid-list risks get a date and a budget line. When the budget tightens, we trim scope and keep the quality. Some line items wait on purpose.

03

Then: measured and re-rated

KPIs are set at baseline and checked at three and six months. If a mitigation is not working the way we expected, we course correct early.

Questions owners ask[RSK.06]

Asked before the assessment

What is a technology risk assessment?

A technology risk assessment is a structured look at how your business runs and what could interrupt it. Lexi maps your systems, vendors, and data, names each risk in plain English, and you rate every one for impact and likelihood. The result is a ranked risk register with a mitigation plan.

Is my business too small to be a target?

No. Attackers automate their targeting, so exposure follows weak controls rather than company size, and smaller firms carry thinner recovery budgets. The assessment sizes your specific exposure: you rate each risk for impact and likelihood, and the mitigation budget goes where it protects you most.

What does a technology risk assessment cost?

The discovery hour that starts it is free, with the five-question agenda sent before the call. Engagements start at $3,500, and every proposal is priced and scoped before you commit. Assessments are finite by design: a defined process with a ranked register and mitigation plan at the end.

Do I need technical knowledge to take part?

No. You rate each risk for impact and likelihood on a one-to-five scale because you know your business best, and Lexi translates every technical term in the same breath it appears. The process is built for owners who barely touch their computers: you finish with a register you understand line by line.

What happens after the assessment?

After the assessment, you decide. The register ranks every risk by your own ratings, the mitigation plan sequences the fixes, and funding goes to the top of the list first. Praxis can implement the plan in phases, or hand it to your existing IT provider with KPIs set at baseline, three, and six months.
